'The Astronaut' Starring Richard Dreyfuss Opens Long Beach International Film Festival

During the LBIFF's four-day run, July 31 to Saturday, Aug 3, 50 films will be shown, including feature-length narratives, documentaries short and animated movies open for all ages. 

There will be nightly events of red carpet premieres, gourmet food events, Chefs & Shorts, filmmaker receptions,  filmmaker Q&As, and musical performances. 

The Astronaut, directed by Shelagh McLeod and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Lyriq Bent, Krista Bridges, Graham Greene, Richie Lawrence, and Colm Feore is about a lonely widower who lies about his age to enter a lottery for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel on the first commercial flight to outer space.

The screening July 31 is at 5 p.m. at Regal Lynbrook 13 Cinema. 

A red carpet event follows the film, with 30 restaurants, wines, beers and spirits, and live music on Long Beach Plaza.

The festival will conclude on Saturday, August 3, with a free concert on the beach followed by free shorts on the beach, beginning at sunset.
